North Street Book Prize 2018: First Prize, Poetry.  The North Street Book Prize, sponsored by Winning Writers, is for self-published books. This prize was awarded to From the Banks of Brook Avenue  in February, 2019.

Pride in Poetry Prize: NavWorks Press. Second Place. 2016.

Carl M. and Nettie M. Halpern Memorial Award: Presented to the author of the best reminiscence article published in The Bronx County Historical Journal each year. Awarded 2017 for  “Fordham.”

Carl M. and Nettie M. Halpern Memorial Award: Presented to the author of the best reminiscence article published in The Bronx County Historical Journal each year. Awarded 2001 for  “My Mother’s Life in Mott Haven.”

Carl M. and Nettie M. Halpern Memorial Award: Presented to the author of the best reminiscence article published in The Bronx County Historical Journal each year. Awarded 1997 for “138th Street and Brook Avenue.”

Boyer Award: Madison Metropolitan School District.  Awarded for the Creative Writing Project at James Madison Memorial High School, in support of Pressions magazine and creative writing workshops. 1987.

Wisconsin Arts Board: grant to establish and supervise a poetry competition for high school students. 1986.This competition, originally the Madison Youth Poetry Festivas, eventually became The Greater Dane County Youth Poetry Festival, which served eight counties and featured a televised performance by judges and student winners.

Mary Roberts Rinehart Foundation: Received $150 to support the completion of  The Shoe Shine Parlor Poems et al. 1979.
